Summary
For the fourth and final project of Apollo, I analyzed the various projects I have completed in my four years enrolled in the Apollo program. I compared how these projects are both the same and different from each other while also taking the time to re-research the topics in which they are centered around.
My overall analysis of my time spent in Apollo geared towards answering the following questions:
Through this analysis, I had been able to bring my full Apollo experience to a close, drawing the final curtain to this chapter in my academic career.
My overall analysis of my time spent in Apollo geared towards answering the following questions:
- How did my high school learning experience differ from my peers outside of Apollo and other students across the country?
- How much have I grown as both a learner and individual due to Apollo?
- What aspects of the program promoted this growth?
- How would my past self (middle school self) view my current self from the perspective as not only a learner but an individual as well?
- What would be her thoughts on all I have achieved and learned due to Apollo?
Through this analysis, I had been able to bring my full Apollo experience to a close, drawing the final curtain to this chapter in my academic career.
ENGLISH
For the English portion of the project, I incorporated the the following previous topics from projects A Change of Tone and The Voices of the Unheard: the struggles of black women and the oppression of the black community as a whole. I wrote a personal essay that thoroughly explained not only the research I completed on the two topics, but the issues of racial injustice and discrimination through my point of view.
Initially, I did not not know what content would be incorporated within this informative piece.
How would I include all of the information in which I gathered?
How would I keep the essay organized and concise while also presenting my point of view on racial oppression?
How would I intertwine the struggles black women and the oppression of the black community without neglecting one or the other?
I decided to meet with my Apollo English teacher, Mr. Wes Ward, to help organize the way in which I will write this piece. After a few days of revision and edits, I narrowed down in writing about how I have seen both the struggles of black women and black people as a whole. This idea stems from the fact that I am both a young lady and black, therefore I identity with the unique issues that both groups face.

Social Studies
For the social studies aspect of the project, I analyzed the various number of projects I completed during my time spent in the Apollo program. I analyzed/researched how my high school learning experience differs from others my age as well.
Initially, I had been unsure of not only how I would organize my research, but the aspects of my Apollo learning experience as well (my self-reflection). After much brainstorming and meeting with my social studies Apollo teacher, Mr. Greg Wimmer, I decided to intertwine both these ideas in unique way and present them in a documentary.

English Snippet
Down below is a snippet from my personal essay titled, " A Twin-Flame Fight " :
"Even when faced with limitations, black women have continued to rise above and prosper. Being raised by nothing but powerful, wise, and remarkable black women allows me to have access to a special sisterhood and a will to be successful. These women have forced their way “to having a seat at the table of success” while building their own through the empowerment of each other. Black women have worked to build this table for centuries while being faced with systemic oppression. They have continued to fight for the justice of black people across the world even in the face of their own adversity. As a result, the black community’s fight for racial equality is nothing short of impactful and resilient. I, along with my many brothers and sisters, will not lessen our will-power and dedication due to our longing for better tomorrow. The unique adversities that each of us face have become our power for when they converge, they initiate the twin flames that will fuel our movement for the lifetimes to come. "

The Final Product
For the final product of this project, I created a 20 minute sit down video ( in the style of a Youtube video) to synthesize all I have learned, the information I have gathered, my learning experience here in Apollo, my challenges as a high school learner, etc. Although this video mainly covers the social studies aspect, the English aspect is included through my analysis of how I perceive the Black Lives Matter movement, racial inequality, racial injustice, etc. Also, I discuss how my perspective is incorporated throughout not only projects from the 2020-2021 school year, but all of the projects I have completed during my enrollment in Apollo program.

Thinking Skill: Synthesis
Formal Definition: The integration of multiple ideas to form a new theory or concept.
Connection to "The Final Curtain" :
I incorporated the thinking skill synthesis through the following aspects of the project: my research process, how my research had been used to support my project analysis, how I used technology to further explore the project idea, and how my culture/personal experiences enhanced the project overall.
The Research Process: Much of my research centered around my high school learning experience of not only my peers (outside of Apollo) but other students across the country. This aided in answering my question of how of how my learning as a high school student differed from others my age. The thinking skill synthesis is presented through my incorporation of multiple perspectives to create one idea or “broad perspective”of one's learning experience in a more traditional setting (not Apollo).
Support of Analysis: One major aspect of this project had been my analysis of all the topics I have explored during my time in the Apollo Program. Using this information, I analyzed how these topics compare and contrast to each other. The thinking skill synthesis is presented through my incorporation of multiple topics/ideas to create one broad generalization of all the projects I have completed in Apollo such as how they all in someway center around racial injustice, political issues etc.
Technology: Technology shaped my understanding of not only the topics in which I would research, but also my individuality compared to that of others my age. The thinking skill synthesis is presented through my incorporation of the multiple websites/domains and social media to create one idea or broad “way” in which technology had been used to better my learning experience.
Culture & Personal Experiences: One major aspect of this project had been my analysis of how my culture played a role in the topics in which I choose, and how this may differ from other students within Apollo who choose topics based off of their individual cultures. The thinking skill synthesis is presented through my incorporation of multiple cultures to create one idea or broad “culture” that defines the Apollo program.

APT: After Project Thoughts
During the research process of this project, I stumbled across two quotes that truly coveys the essence of my project idea. I decided to leave off with these quotes for I feel as though it properly bring project 4 to a close:
“It’s not about supplication; it’s about power. It’s not about asking, it’s about demanding. It’s not about convincing those who are currently in power, it’s about changing the very face of power itself.”
~ Kimberle Williams Crenshaw
"In the end, all that endures are the builders, and in the end even the builders are forgotten, and all that endures are the ripples of what they built, and that’s good—that’s a good thing.”
~Bill Clinton
